6 year old to his mother a month after starting “Mom, I’m not learning anything here, I am just having fun!” Actually, the skillful teacher was teaching this child several new concepts and skills. However, they were provided using the hands-on Montessori equipment and the child was soaking up the information without even realising it.

“Sending my son to Montessori at Tawa School was the best decision I ever made for my son’s education. He really struggled in Year 1 at a state school. Sitting at a desk all day being “told” information did not engage him at all. When I moved him to Montessori Tawa, he blossomed. He loves the hands-on Montessori equipment. He is a doer and the equipment helps him see the physical results of his work. Also, he loves to explore and discover. The style of teaching in Room 13 allows him to do that. Best of all, his teacher, Anna is a whiz at keeping him on track in the main area in which he struggles (although there is still some way to go in that area, he has made great progress). I also credit Anna 100% in instilling a love of reading in my son. This is the child who couldn’t stand books. Now he can’t pass a book store without dragging me in to see if there is something for him to read” Mother of 7 year old.
